SBSO ARRESTS MAN WANTED ON OUTSTANDING WARRANTS AFTER HE FLED FROM DEPUTIES
The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrested a New Orleans man wanted on multiple outstanding warrants after he fled from deputies during a traffic stop, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.
Jermaine Turner, 36, of the 7500 block of Kingsport Boulevard in New Orleans, was booked on multiple outstanding warrants, including two counts of aggravated assault, felon in possession of a firearm, aggravated assault and battery of a dating partner, and flight from an officer.
On Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026, shortly after 11 a.m., agents with the Special Investigations Division Narcotics Unit observed Turner, who was wanted on outstanding warrants, driving a black Infiniti Q50 as he pulled into the parking lot of an Arabi business. When agents attempted to stop him, Turner fled the parking lot onto St. Claude Avenue, striking an agent’s vehicle in the process.
Turner then traveled westbound in the eastbound lanes of St. Claude Avenue into Orleans Parish, where he struck another vehicle, disabling both vehicles. Agents took Turner into custody following the crash without further incident.
Turner was treated at an area hospital for minor injuries and later transported to St. Bernard Parish Prison to be booked on the above outstanding warrants, as well as additional charges, including reckless operation of a motor vehicle, aggravated flight from an officer, aggravated obstruction of a highway, first-degree vehicular negligent injuring (two counts), switched license plate, no driver’s license, and aggravated criminal damage to property.
Sheriff Pohlmann said the driver of the vehicle Turner struck was also transported to an area hospital for treatment, and the investigation is ongoing.
