SBSO ARRESTS MAN ON VARIOUS CHARGES AFTER HE FLED IN STOLEN VEHICLE

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrested a man on various charges after he fled in a stolen vehicle from deputies, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

Lamar Odom, 52, no known address, was booked with illegal possession of stolen things, two counts of hit and run driving, simple criminal damage to property, aggravated flight from an officer, reckless operation of a motor vehicle and driver must be licensed.

On Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2023, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Sheriff Pohlmann said, Field Operation Bureau Patrol Division deputies in the Chalmette area attempted to conduct a traffic stop on West Judge Perez Drive near Doctor Meraux Boulevard on a white Ford F-350 reported stolen out of New Orleans.

The driver, later identified as Odom, refused to stop. After striking two vehicles and damaging a third when a bicycle was ejected from the stolen truck’s rear bed, Odom drove against traffic on West Judge Perez Drive while fleeing from deputies.

Odom exited the truck after abandoning it in the parking lot of a business located in the 2800 block of Paris Road in Chalmette, but was apprehended shortly after by deputies.

During the course of the investigation, Criminal Investigations Bureau detectives learned the truck Odom was driving was listed as stolen by the New Orleans Police Department and is believed to have been used to steal an ATM machine in New Orleans.

A criminal background check was conducted on Odom which revealed he had two outstanding fugitive warrants out of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Odom was transported to the St. Bernard Parish Prison and booked accordingly.
