SBSO ARRESTS MAN ON NARCOTICS CHARGES

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrested a man on narcotics charges following an investigation conducted by the Special Investigations Division Narcotics Unit, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

Ronald Williams, 50, of the 2000 block of Goodwill Drive in Poydras, was booked Feb. 8 with possession with the intent to distribute crack cocaine, possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl, possession with the intent to distribute MDMA Ecstasy, possession with the intent to distribute Tramadol, possession with the intent to distribute Hydrocodone, illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, illegal possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He also was booked on an outstanding warrant out of Jefferson Parish for a traffic attachment.

After obtaining information that Williams was involved in illegal drug activity in St. Bernard, Narcotics Unit agents opened an investigation.

Based on their findings, agents obtained a search warrant for Williams’ residence.

During the course of the investigation agents recovered 13 grams of cocaine, 49 doses of MDMA Ecstasy containing fentanyl, 40 Tramadol tablets, 2 Hydrocodone pills and marijuana.

Agents also recovered a fully-loaded Smith & Wesson .38 caliber revolver, the Sheriff said.

A criminal history check was conducted on Williams which revealed he has an extensive criminal record which includes prior convictions for narcotics related charges as well as arrests for domestic violence, simple escape, resisting an officer, obstruction and firearms charges.

Williams was transported to St. Bernard Parish Prison to be booked on the above charges.
