SBSO ARRESTS CHALMETTE MAN ON NARCOTICS CHARGES FOLLOWING TRAFFIC STOP

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrested a Chalmette man on various narcotics charges Sunday afternoon following a traffic stop in Arabi, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

Alvin Hardy, 28, of the 9100 block of Amour Drive in Chalmette, was booked with possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession with the intent to distribute heroin and fentanyl, possession of marijuana, and obedience to stop signs.

On Sunday, Aug. 20, 2023, shortly after 1 p.m., Sheriff Pohlmann said, Field Operations Bureau Patrol Division deputies assigned to the Crime Prevention Unit were on patrol in the Arabi area when they witnessed the driver of a black 2024 Chevy Colorado, later identified as Hardy, disregard a stop sign near the intersection of Aycock Street and Patricia Street.

When deputies conducted a traffic stop, they noticed a strong odor of marijuana emitting from inside the truck.

During the course of the investigation, deputies recovered 10.86 grams of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $1,090; 25.60 grams of heroin and fentanyl with an estimated street value of $2,560; and 10.73 grams of marijuana with an estimated street value of $100.

A criminal history background check was conducted on Hardy which revealed he had an outstanding warrant for cruelty to a juvenile out of St. Bernard, and an outstanding traffic warrant out of Jefferson Parish.

Hardy was transported to St. Bernard Parish Prison to be booked accordingly.
