SBSO APPREHENDS TWO IN CONNECTION WITH FATAL SHOOTING IN VIOLET
Two males from St. Bernard Parish were arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old male victim that took place Nov. 23 outside a residence in Violet, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.
Cody Adams, 21, of the 3100 block of Oak Drive in Violet, and a 16-year-old male juvenile from Chalmette are both in custody in Picayune, Mississippi, and are awaiting extradition to St. Bernard Parish where they both will be booked with second degree murder.
At approximately 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23, Sheriff Pohlmann said, deputies responded to a call for service in reference to a shooting in the 2800 block of Moss Lane in Violet.
When deputies arrived on the scene they found a male victim lying in the rear of a driveway suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
During the course of the investigation, the Sheriff said, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Bureau were able to identify Adams as being involved in the incident and an arrest warrant was issued.
Adams was seen driving away from the scene in a 2023 blue Toyota Camry with temp tag 20263405 with two male passengers, one who detectives have since identified as the 16-year-old male juvenile in custody, and another unidentified male who was seen by witnesses fleeing the scene on foot.
Detectives were able to apprehend Adams and the 16-year-old male juvenile with the help of the Picayune Police Department and the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation is ongoing, Sheriff Pohlmann said.
