SBSO APPREHENDS FIVE, RECOVERS STOLEN GUN, NARCOTICS
The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office recovered a stolen gun and illegal narcotics after five adults attempted to evade deputies in Chalmette, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.
On Monday, Feb. 26, shortly before 3 p.m., Sheriff Pohlmann said, deputies with the Field Operations Bureau Patrol Division attempted to make a traffic stop on a black Infiniti near the corner of West Judge Perez Drive and Old Hickory Drive in Chalmette.
Despite deputies deploying spike strips at the parish line in an effort to stop the vehicle, the driver of the Infiniti refused to stop.
The vehicle eventually halted after colliding with another vehicle near Basin Street and Bienville Avenue in New Orleans, and crashing into two parked cars.
Once the vehicle came to a stop, two adult male occupants fled on foot, but were quickly apprehended by deputies. The other three adult occupants, an adult male and two adult females, were taken into custody without incident.
During the course of the investigation, a stolen firearm and illegal narcotics were recovered from inside the vehicle.
The investigation is ongoing, the Sheriff said.
