SBSO AND SCHOOL BOARD ADD SRO AT CHS

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office and the St. Bernard Parish School Board have added an additional full-time School Resource Officer to Chalmette High School, Sheriff James Pohlmann and Superintendent Doris Voitier both said.

Dep. Brandon Gaudet, who joined SBSO in 2017, graduated from Peace Officers Standards and Training, the P.O.S.T. police academy, in 2018. He served as a deputy in the Corrections Division at the Parish Prison for two years and was transferred to the Field Operations Bureau Patrol Division in 2019. He also has been a member of the Special Weapons and Tactics, or S.W.A.T. team since 2021.

Dep. Gaudet will work alongside CHS SRO Lt. Marco Spicuzza and SRO Dep. Jamie Lovas.

In addition to the deputies stationed at CHS, the Sheriff’s Office has two SROs who work at C.F. Rowley Alternative School, Dep. Jamie Penton and Dep. Henry Senez.

The Sheriff’s Office also has a liaison investigator, Lt. Michelle Canepa, who is responsible for conducting investigations about incidents on school campuses and building positive relationships with students; SRO Truancy Dep. Keith Lutz who promotes school attendance by monitoring and addressing cases of students who miss school regularly without a valid reason; and Investigator Richard Jackson assigned to investigate residency checks.
