SBSO AGENT PATRICK CLARK AND K-9 PIT WIN 1ST PLACE IN COMPETITION

St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Agent Patrick Clark and his partner, K-9 Pit, earned first place in the National Narcotic Detector Dog Association’s Louisiana Regional Narcotics Detection Competition, Sheriff Richard Baumy said.

Held Oct. 26–29 in Thibodaux, the event brought together 40 law enforcement K-9 teams from Louisiana, Alabama and South Carolina for training and networking.
The seminar focused on strengthening the skills of dogs and their handlers through practical detection exercises and included an advanced canine pre-hospital care class presented by Anna 4 Paws.

The event culminated in a narcotics detection competition, where Agent Clark and Pit secured the top spot in their first competition.

“This accomplishment reflects the time, training and dedication Agent Clark puts into working with Pit,” Sheriff Baumy said. “We are proud of the outstanding work they do every day to help keep dangerous narcotics out of our community.”

Agent Clark joined SBSO in 2019 and has partnered with Pit since 2023. The team serves in the Special Investigations Division, commanded by Col. Daniel Bostic Jr., and assists with traffic stops, search warrants and school searches throughout St. Bernard Parish. They also work with federal, state and local law enforcement partners to detect and remove illegal narcotics from our communities.

“Winning first place in our first competition is something I’ll always be proud of,” Agent Clark said. “Pit and I put a lot of time into training, and it’s rewarding to see that hard work pay off.”

The National Narcotic Detector Dog Association is a professional, nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the proficiency and use of police service and scent detection dogs for the benefit of law enforcement.

Please join SBSO in congratulating Agent Clark and K-9 Pit on this outstanding achievement and thanking them for their continued dedication to keeping our community safe.
