National Public Safety Telecommunications Week (April 9-15, 2023) is an annual national event held to honor public safety telecommunicators for the role they play as first responders.

The true first, first responders, 911 dispatchers do more than just answer the phone, Sheriff James Pohlmann said. They’re the first point of contact for a person in need, and are often the unsung heroes in many situations.

The Sheriff said 911 dispatchers play a vital role in law enforcement, serving as the link between the caller and deputies who can provide safety and emergency medical professionals who can render aid.
