LP Superintendent: Katy Wells served LPPS and the LPSO in various capacities for 40 years

LP Superintendent Purvis: Today around 3:30 pm, during the afternoon school dismissal, a crossing guard at Gray’s Creek Elementary was fatally struck by a vehicle on LA Hwy 16.
Katy Wells was performing her duties as a crossing guard when she was struck by a vehicle traveling northwest. The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office is on the scene of the accident and is handling the investigation. ▫️

Katy Wells served the Livingston Parish Public School System and Livingston Parish Sheriffs Office in various capacities for the past 40 years, including serving as crossing guard for Seventh Ward Elementary and Gray’s Creek Elementary schools in Denham Springs. She was a true servant to her community and she will be deeply missed. The Livingston Parish Public School System asks for prayers and support for Mrs. Wells’ family and the many community members that she has touched over the years.
