Pedestrian Killed in St. Bernard Parish Crash
Arabi – On January 18, 2026, shortly after 11:30 p.m., Troopers responded to a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on LA-39 in St. Bernard Parish. The crash claimed the life of 43-year-old Lisa Doucet of Arabi.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2015 Dodge Caravan was traveling west on LA-39, approaching the intersection of Rowley Blvd, with a green traffic signal displayed. As the Caravan traveled through the intersection, Doucet was walking north on Rowley Boulevard, crossing LA-39 west, within the marked crosswalk when she was struck by the Caravan.
Doucet sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where she later died. Impairment is not suspected for the driver, and standard toxicology samples were collected and submitted for analysis.
Pedestrians are urged to use designated crosswalks and avoid entering active roadways. Visibility is especially limited at night, and entering travel lanes unexpectedly can have tragic consequences. Always make safety a priority-whether walking, biking, or driving.
