DOTD announces lane closures on Judge Seeber Bridge
New Orleans- The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that there will be single lane closures on the Judge Seeber Bridge on LA 39 in Orleans Parish from Tuesday, September 8, to Friday, October 2, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. These closures are required to allow crews to make mechanical repairs to the movable bridge.
This work is being conducted in conjunction with the Port of New Orleans’ project on the St. Claude Avenue Bridge. In order to minimize impacts on marine and vehicular traffic, the Coast Guard required all work on the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal to be performed while the Corps. of Engineers has the locks closed for repairs. The project on the St. Claude Bridge will have continuous single lane closures in both directions while crews make repairs to the counter weights.
During peak hours, the St. Claude Avenue and Judge Seeber Bridges will have three of the four lanes normally available open in each direction for thru traffic. During the construction period, the Judge Seeber Bridge will not be open to marine traffic, allowing traffic to flow without causing delays to the vehicular traffic. All construction activity is weather dependent. DOTD appreciates the motoring public’s patience and reminds drivers to please exercise caution when traveling through work zone areas and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
