On Saturday, Oct. 17, at approximately 10 a.m., Sheriff Pohlmann said, deputies responded to a call about shots being fired in the 3000 block of Jean Lafitte Parkway.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they came into contact with Hebert who later confessed to detectives with the Criminal Investigations Bureau he shot a man whom he witnessed having an altercation with a woman.
Hebert told detectives the man was being physical with the woman so he told him to leave her alone. When the male didn’t listen, Hebert said he went inside the apartment where he was staying to retrieve a handgun.

The male victim was treated at an area hospital for non life threatening injuries. Sheriff Pohlmann said no one else was injured in the incident.
Detectives recovered the handgun Hebert used and then discarded in a nearby trash dumpster and determined it was reported as stolen.
A criminal history check was conducted on Hebert which reveleaved he is a convicted felon. He was transported to St. Bernard Parish Prison to be booked on the above charges.
