DEPUTIES, FIREFIGHTERS HONORED BY KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS DURING BLUE MASS

The Knights of Columbus hosted a Blue Mass on Saturday, Nov. 15, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Violet to honor SBSO deputies, St. Bernard Fire Department firefighters and all first responders who serve and protect the citizens of St. Bernard Parish.

Knights of Columbus councils represented were Archbishop Janssens Council 3068, Archbishop Rummel Council 5747, Our Lady of Lourdes Council 8442, and St. Bernard Assembly 2181.

St. Bernard Sheriff James Pohlmann said the Blue Mass was a meaningful way for the community to come together and show appreciation for the men and women who risk their lives each day in the line of duty.

β€œOur deputies and local firefighters dedicate themselves to protecting our community,” the Sheriff said. β€œWe are grateful to the Knights of Columbus for recognizing their service and sacrifice through this special event.”

The Blue Mass tradition honors the work and devotion of first responders, offering prayers for their protection and remembrance of those who have lost their lives while serving others.
