You may begin seeing a new β€˜Bryan’s Call’ designation added to certain missing person alerts and graphics in Louisiana.

Recently signed into law by Governor Jeff Landry through Act 347, Bryan’s Call strengthens Louisiana’s existing missing person alert system for vulnerable children and adults with developmental, intellectual, or cognitive impairments.

Bryan’s Call is not a separate alert. Instead, it is a designation that can be added to existing alerts when specific criteria are met. In some cases, an alert may be upgraded to a Bryan’s Call as investigators gather additional information and determine the missing person meets the required criteria.

For children, not every missing child case meets the strict requirements for an AMBER Alert. When a child is believed to be endangered but the case does not qualify for an AMBER Alert, a Level II Missing Endangered Child Advisory may be issued. If that child has a qualifying developmental or cognitive impairment, the advisory may also be designated as a Bryan’s Call.

For adults, a Silver Alert may also be designated as a Bryan’s Call when the missing person has a qualifying developmental or cognitive impairment.

In certain cases, Bryan’s Call alerts may utilize Wireless Emergency Alerts, sending notifications directly to cell phones in the area where the person was last seen.

When you see a Bryan’s Call alert, please take a moment to read the information and call law enforcement if you have information that could help bring that person home safely.
