St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrests New Orleans woman
for fatally shooting father of her child

The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrested a New Orleans woman for fatally shooting her boyfriend and the father of her child outside his place of employment this weekend, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

Alexis King, 20, of the 6100 block of Royal Street in New Orleans, was booked with second degree murder in the case.

On Sunday, Feb. 14, at approximately 7 p.m., Sheriff Pohmann said, deputies responded to a call about shots being fired in the parking lot near the entrance of a business in the 8100 block of West Judge Perez Drive in Chalmette.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they found a male victim lying on the ground in the parking lot of the business suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Through video surveillance, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Bureau were able to identify the victim as an employee of the business.

During the course of the investigation, detectives also were able to identify King as the shooter. Once in custody, King admitted her involvement in the incident.

Sheriff Pohlmann said no one else was injured in the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
