Former St. Bernard man wanted for two parish business burglaries caught in Slidell

A former St. Bernard resident who was wanted on two business burglaries in the parish has been caught in Slidell, Sheriff Jack Stephens said.

Rocky Holmes, 35, who formerly lived in St. Bernard but moved to the Slidell area, will be booked in St. Bernard with two counts of business burglary, with being a felon in illegal possession of guns and is also a suspect in vehicle burglaries in St. Bernard, Sheriff Stephens said.

Holmes was arrested July 25 after getting off a bus in Slidell, the sheriff said. He hasn’b been transferred to St. Bernard Prison because there is also a hold on him from Tennessee authorities, Sheriff Stephens said.

St. Bernard sheriff’s detectives, who had determined Holmes was a suspect in two business burglaries that occurred in Arabi in July and June, developed information he would be returning to Slidell from Tennessee and alerted St. Tammany authorities.

Holmes and a 15-year-old juvenile who is still at large, allegedly committed the business burglaries, authorities said. The name of the juvenile hasn’t been released, based on state law involving minors.

A woman identified as Holmes’ girlfriend, Alicia Cruz, 33, last known address of 912 Mehle St. in Arabi, has also been arrested and booked with simple burglary involving one of the break-ins, Sheriff Stephens said. She has been released from St. Bernard Parish Prison on bond of $5,000.
