Chalmette man found with variety of drugs including heroin, crack cocaine, ecstasy and marijuana, and an assault rifle, handgun, cash, scales and plastic baggies for selling narcotics

Aug. 19 - A Chalmette man was arrested Aug. 17 after he was found with a variety of narcotics and weapons and there was evidence he had been processing crack cocaine at the residence where he was staying and, based on items recovered such as scales and baggies, he was likely selling it also, Sheriff Jack Stephens said.

Antonio Denson, 20, who was staying with the family of his girlfriend at 3320 Decomine St., was stopped for traffic violations in the 2800 block of Guerra Drive in Violet about 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 17 by the sheriff’s Special Investigation Division and he also didn’t have a driver’s license, Sheriff Stephens said.

A white rock-like substance which had a positive indication for the presence of crack cocaine and a brown rock-line substance with a positive indication for the presence of heroin were found on Denson, the sheriff said.

Also, five pills that tested positive for MDMA or ecstasy and marijuana were found on the suspect, who had his girlfriend and another juvenile girl in his vehicle, the sheriff said.

Sheriff’s deputies were granted a consent to search at the home of the family Denson was staying with, Sheriff Stephens said, and located numerous items including an assault rifle and ammo, a handgun and cash, the sheriff said.

He also said officers found evidence of processing crack cocaine including a glass coffee pot with burnt residue and a glass tube with a rock-line substance which had a positive indication for crack cocaine, a digital scare, plastic baggies that could be used for selling narcotics and more marijuana.

Denson, being held in St. Bernard Parish prison in lieu of $90,000 bond, was booked with: possession with intent to distribute heroin, crack cocaine, MDMA and marijuana, along with possession of firearms while in possession of illegal drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile and traffic violations.
